The amazing Philly-based acoustic folk-rock band that featured the gorgeous vocals of Eden Daniels, Chris Unrath on guitar, Dean (Clean) Sabatino of the Dead Milkmen on drums, and the incomparable Andy Bresnan on the Ukranian Burda – a three string bass instrument that looked like a cross between a cello and a Noguchi coffee table.

The Thomas B. Razler Trio is one of Bucks County’s favorite jazz groups. As a tight group, they have a bright positive sound, ready to liven up the park!

File under….what, exactly? Too unpredictable for “folk,” too loud for “acoustic,” too unpretentious for “indie,” too complicated for “punk,” too rough for “chamber-pop,” and more band than “singer-songwriter.” The KFB may be fellow travelers, but they aren’t about to swear allegiance to any party. Since 1992 the KFB has written songs, added band members, and had families; all while recording and performing in and around Philadelphia. While the lineup has changed over the years, what makes their music identifiable hasn’t: sibling harmonies from brother and sister Denis and Meg; unusual instrumentation featuring cello, fiddle and accordion; first-rate, idiosyncratic songwriting from multiple band members; and the wide variety of musical elements the band embraces in the normal course of making music together. At the heart of the KFB musical DNA is “sounds” and “songs.” “Sounds” are the sweet (harmony singing, rich cello) mixed with the sour (noisy guitars, dissidence); the accordion and fiddle used in decidedly unfolky ways; and tunes that hook yet remain unpredictable. “Songs” are words and music about everyday things: loss, dancing and drinking, contentment and dissatisfaction. OSCURO QUINTET

The Friends of Gold Star Park will be constructing a new shed, planting some shrubs, weeding, and cleaning up the park.  PLEASE donate ONE HOUR of your time, anytime between 9:30 and 11:30am. It’s YOUR neighborhood, it’s YOUR park, we need YOUR help!

Join more than 2,000 volunteers for LOVE Your Park Day in neighborhood parks throughout Philadelphia. More than 100 projects will take place at locations in all parts of the city. From Pennypack Park in the Northeast to Morris Park in West Philadelphia, volunteers will remove invasive weeds and vines, paint benches, plant flowers, and pick up trash.  PHS is partnering with the Philadelphia Department of Parks and Recreation and Greater Philadelphia Cares on this event.
