Construction Update

Under-construction
Due to the rain for the last month, the top soil supplier may not be able to get all of the top soil on site until the first week in May.
4 trees and sod are ready to be installed, contingent on the top soil installation. The asphalt work will start the day after the sod is installed.
The fence will delivered the 2nd or 3rd week in May.

Park UNDER CONSTRUCTION

Neighbors,

Construction to remove the old tennis court will be starting on the park this Monday, April 4th.

This is the implementation of a grant the Park won, GreenPlan Philadelphia, with the purpose of improving neighborhood green spaces, like Gold Star Park

PLEASE BE ADVISED that during construction, some ‘No Parking‘ signs will have to be posted in the immediate vicinity of the old court area, resulting in reduced parking at the corner of Wharton & Sheridan and Sheridan & Manton for a brief time during construction.   One of the challenges will be getting access for the dump truck to the site for hauling away the asphalt.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.  It may be inconvenient for a bit, but when it’s complete, we can enjoy the beauty of a greener park.

Gold Star Park, an “overlooked oasis”

Visit: Unpopular Picnic Spots

Citypaper

“Avoid the al fresco-bound masses when the weather breaks by picnicking at overlooked oases and lesser-known knolls, from the small (Gold Star Park,

a vest pocket stitched by Sheridan, Wharton and Marshall streets) to the sprawling (1,000-acre John Heinz Wildlife Refuge, a scenic bird sanctuary

near the airport).”
