Winter Break

Over the winter, please remember we are on a winter trash schedule so, if you can, take your trash (dog doo) with you.

Please keep dogs on a leash and OUT of all flower beds!

And try to keep it down between the hours of 9am and 9pm, so the immediate neighbors can enjoy their home.  Thanks!

We’re taking a break over the winter, but need some help in Spring with grant-writing for MORE playground equipment and some warm-weather events.

WE NEED YOU!

email us at goldstarpark@passyunk.org

or just ‘Like’ us on Facebook

See you in the Spring!

Music in the Park: Artistas y Musicos Latinos Americanos (AMLA)

THURSDAY, AUGUST 18th

7pm

In conjunction with local organizations, theaters, and media outlets, AMLA presents authentic Latin music programming in a variety of formats to the community. For more than 25 years, AMLA has organized concerts, workshops, clinics, film screenings, meet-and-greets, and other special events, as well as radio and TV programming on Latin music and dance.

Join our friends, South Philly Food Co-op, present Local Fruit and Veggie Tasting
We’ll be providing samples of in-season fruits and vegetables for everyone to sample.  Bring your friends, bring your neighbors, bring your kids – this is a great way to become familiar with what is in-season in our region and maybe try something new.  We will also feature a blind “Taste-Test” pitting Local/Organic versus conventional produce. Do you think you can tell the difference?  Special thanks to Pennsylvania Horticulture Society for providing the grant to purchase the produce, and to Birchtree Catering for sourcing and cutting up the veggies and fruit.

All events are FREE. Bring your own chair/blanket. Each event is subject to change and/or cancellation due to severe weather, which will be posted in the park. Sponsored by Passyunk Square Civic Association and Friends of Gold Star Park, which are all-volunteer, neighbor-run organizations with funding from the Philadelphia Activities Grant. Bring your best sweet creation to the Gold Star Park and enter to win the first ever SPFC Dessert Throw Down – you could go down in history.  A prize worthy of dessert awesomeness will be awarded.  Even if you don’t win best of show, going home with a belly full of yummy treats is a good consolation prize!
